Most of my vacations are "active vacations". I go to Lake Tahoe annually and I snowboard all day long. If the roads are okay I'll run about every third day also. I've hiked for up to 6 hours in Tahoe before also. A lot of fun.

I go to the Florida Keys and dive/snorkel all day.

During the fall I usually make a road trip for a UF football game (going to Baton Rouge for UF/LSU this year). I'll be doing some heavy drinking so I'll run when I get there....and then again the next morning. After that it will be beer & bourbon. No exercise!!

From time to time, taking a break is good for your body.

So if I'm going to be on vacation for 4-5 days, I'm not anal about exercising. If you consistently exercise for 5-6 months, 4-5 days of rest isn't going to make a big difference.

Most of my vacations are tropical, so alot of snorkling, beach walking. bicycling and dancing. Don't like to overeat and get bloated, but always have some kind of drink in hand.

Agreed. Youre not supposed to work out every single week anyways. every few months you should take a week off to fully charge. People usually get great gains after that week.

A vacation is a vacation! Plus like dante said you burn so many calories just walking around. Actually to be specific, you burn in the nieghborhood of 325 per hour just walking around!

here is a very simple one- in airports and going in out of hotels and many other places when traveling, you have a choice of using an escalator, elevator or stairs. while everyone else opts for the escalator or elevator, you should opt for the stairs.

studies have shown that exercise in small bursts is very beneficial. In Vegas, I always use the stairs to go up to my car in parking garages and wherever else I can. Also, you actually get to the top or bottom of a stairway faster than people standing on an escalator.

stairs are challenging in an airport with bags, but thats good exercise.

Most hotels have workout room.

Followed by a morning swim.

Usually lose weight on vacations as the computer is home.
